The Science Behind Electrolysis & Hair Growth Phases

Did you know that the effectiveness of electrolysis depends on which stage your hair is in? The best time to target unwanted hair is during the Anagen Phase—the active growth stage—because the hair is fully attached to the follicle, allowing the current to destroy the root more effectively.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the hair growth cycles:

Anagen (Active Growth Phase) – The ideal stage for electrolysis! The hair is deeply rooted, making treatment the most effective for permanent removal.

Catagen (Transitional Phase) – The hair begins detaching from the follicle. Electrolysis is still possible, but less effective.

Telogen (Resting Phase) – The hair is fully detached and will soon shed. Electrolysis won’t work on these hairs since they are no longer connected to the follicle.

Since not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time, multiple sessions are needed for complete permanent hair removal. Stay consistent with your treatments for the best results!
